Pinterest for Business – Will Pinterest Enhance Your Business?

Pinterest for Business Printerest, the new online sensation that has rocketed to 3rd place among social networking sites in the U.S , has suddenly become a valuable marketing tool worth considering for your business.  Already ahead of Twitter in generating referral  traffic, this popular site is a creative dream come true for retailers who have products that are being liked and repinned by 11 million users—and growing.

Although Pinterest attracts predominantly female users from 20’s to 40’s, men are beginning to discover the fun of “pinning” and it won’t be long until every sports team has a Pinterest site for their fans.

If you haven’t seen Pinterest yet, users create collages of favorite photos and videos, often collecting a wish list of products, fashions or home and craft items.  You’ll quickly realize how important it is for pictures to be interesting choices that can stand alone.  For SEO purposes make sure your photos link to your web content.  If you pin your own photography add a visible watermark to protect your photos from unauthorized use.

So, you may be wondering, how can this virtual pinboard help market your business?  First and foremost, Pinterest stimulates customer engagement (priceless).  You can ask questions to encourage comments, and posting new pins or boards are reasons to start conversations.

Maybe, like me, your product is yourself or a service.  My Pinterest board is comprised of my own photos—just a way to reach out with a representation of my life beyond the personal profile.  This trend is not only part of the healthy transparency that is expected of business people today but also a trust-and rapport building tool.   http://pinterest.com/martinbrossman/

Pinterest has clear instructions to help you get started.  You will be asked to choose to connect through Facebook  or Twitter:  I recommend that businesses connect via Twitter,  since the Facebook interface is through personal profiles only.

Be sure to put a “pin it’ button on your website , and link your Pinterest site to your web site to increase interaction.
